  • Mixing spoon
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • whisk
  • Heatproof Jar
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • funnel

Ingredients

Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste optional
  • 1 pinch salt optional

Instructions

  • Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Avoid vigorous boiling to keep the syrup clear.
  • Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, vanilla bean paste if using, and salt.
  • Cool the syrup until slightly warm. It should look glossy and pour smoothly without feeling watery.
  • Pour into a clean glass jar using a funnel. Seal tightly and refrigerate before serving.
  • Add 1 to 2 tablespoons to hot coffee, iced coffee, lattes, milk, or desserts. Stir well before enjoying.

Notes

For a thinner syrup, reduce simmering time slightly. For a richer texture, simmer one extra minute without caramelizing. Chill completely before using for the smoothest flavor. Handle quickly when assembling cold drinks with ice. Add cinnamon, almond, or hazelnut extract for easy flavor variations. Store refrigerated in a sealed jar for up to one month and shake before each use.
