Ingredients
  

Salted Caramel Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 4 cup water for caramel
  • 3 4 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 2 tsp flaky sea salt adjust to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat the sugar with one-quarter cup water over medium heat until it becomes a deep golden caramel without stirring excessively.
  • Slowly whisk in the hot water. The mixture will bubble rapidly before smoothing into a silky syrup.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and flaky sea salt until fully dissolved and evenly blended.
  • Simmer gently for 1 to 2 minutes. The syrup should lightly coat the back of a spoon.
  • Allow the syrup to cool slightly before transferring it into a sterilized bottle using a funnel.
  • Add 1 to 2 tablespoons to coffee, lattes, iced drinks, milk, or desserts and stir thoroughly before serving.

Notes

Cook the caramel briefly for a lighter flavor or slightly longer for deeper richness without burning. Chill completely before making iced beverages. Pour carefully while assembling drinks because warm syrup flows quickly. Customize with cinnamon, espresso powder, or vanilla bean. Store refrigerated in a sealed container for up to one month and shake before each use.
