Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila the smoother, the better
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice from actual limes, not a bottle
  • 1 oz orange liqueur triple sec, Cointreau, take your pick
  • 1 tsp agave syrup if you like it sweet
  • Zest of one orange because we’re getting classy
  • Ice a must
  • Salt for the rim optional, but recommended

  • Prep the glasses: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your rocks glasses. Dip the rim in salt and set aside.
  • Shake the cocktail: Add tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, agave syrup, and orange zest to your shaker. Fill with ice and shake vigorously.

  • For an extra burst of flavor, lightly torch the orange zest before adding it to the drink.
  • If you want to impress, swap out regular salt for a smoked salt rim—it’ll add a whole new layer of flavor
