Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your loaf pan because sticky banana bread is the worst.
Mash bananas in a bowl until they look like mush.
In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Whisk dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Add brewed espresso and instant coffee to the batter. Mix well.
Fold in chocolate chips, because who doesn't want more chocolate?
For the cream cheese filling, beat softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth.
Layer half the banana bread batter in the pan.
Spread the cream cheese filling over the batter.
Top with the remaining batter, smoothing the top.
Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean (ignore the melted chocolate).
Let cool for 15 minutes, though we all know you’ll be tempted to dive in sooner.
Slice, serve, and prepare for the compliments.
