Non alcoholic Irish coffee gives me all the cozy café energy without requiring anyone to explain their questionable decisions tomorrow. I blend strong coffee with creamy milk, brown sugar, and a fluffy topping. My husband loves the richness, my child approves the sweetness, and I enjoy my peaceful little victory.

Equipment
- Mixing bowl
- Small saucepan
- Measuring cups
- Measuring Spoons
- coffee maker
- whisk
- electric mixer
- 2 Heatproof Glasses
- Spoon
- refrigerator
Ingredients
Coffee Base
- Strong brewed coffee — 2 cups (480 ml), hot
- Brown sugar — 2 tablespoons (25 g)
- Vanilla extract — 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
Creamy Milk Mixture
- Whole milk — 1/2 cup (120 ml)
- Heavy cream — 1/4 cup (60 ml)
Whipped Topping
- Heavy whipping cream — 1/2 cup (120 ml), chilled
- Powdered sugar — 1 tablespoon (8 g)
- Vanilla extract — 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml)
Optional Flavoring
- Ground cinnamon — 1/8 teaspoon (0.3 g), optional
- Ground nutmeg — pinch, optional
Instructions
- Brew 2 cups of strong coffee. Use a dark roast for deeper flavor and a fuller coffee character.
- Pour the hot coffee into a small saucepan. Add brown sugar and vanilla, then warm gently while stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Warm the whole milk and heavy cream separately over low heat until steaming but not boiling. Remove from the heat immediately.
- Slowly stir the warm milk mixture into the sweetened coffee. Add cinnamon or nutmeg if desired and mix until smooth.
- Whip chilled heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Stop before stiff peaks develop so the topping stays light and spoonable.
- Divide the hot coffee evenly between two heatproof glasses, leaving room for the whipped topping.
- Spoon the whipped cream gently over each drink. Let it sit on top rather than stirring it completely into the coffee.
- Dust the surface lightly with cinnamon or nutmeg. Serve immediately while the coffee remains hot and the topping stays fluffy.
- For a softer, creamier texture, increase the milk slightly. For a stronger coffee flavor, reduce the milk without changing the coffee quantity.
Notes
Use freshly brewed, strong coffee for the best flavor. Keep the milk warm rather than boiling to prevent a thin or separated texture. For a fluffy topping, chill the cream, bowl, and beaters before whipping. Adjust brown sugar for sweetness, or replace it with maple syrup for a warmer flavor. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel, chocolate shavings, or almond extract for variations. Serve immediately for the best contrast between hot coffee and cool cream. For an iced version, cool the coffee completely, refrigerate it, and pour over fresh ice before adding whipped cream. Refrigerate leftover coffee separately for up to 2 days; prepare fresh whipped topping before serving.
