Ingredients
  

Irish Cream Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 tsp instant espresso powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp almond extract optional
  • 1 pinch salt optional

Instructions
 

  • Whisk together the sugar, water, cocoa powder, and espresso powder in a saucepan until completely smooth.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture gently simmers and the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt until blended.
  • Cool until slightly warm. The syrup should appear glossy and lightly coat the back of a spoon.
  • Pour into a clean glass bottle using a funnel. Refrigerate completely before serving.
  • Use 1 to 2 tablespoons in coffee, lattes, iced drinks, milk, or desserts and stir thoroughly.

Notes

Simmer briefly for a lighter consistency or one extra minute for a richer syrup without overcooking. Chill completely before preparing iced beverages. Stir gently when assembling layered drinks. Customize with hazelnut extract or cinnamon. Store refrigerated in a sealed container for up to one month and shake well before each use.
